About Beyond the Burrow
Beyond the Burrow began as a simple yet powerful idea in 2019: to create a nurturing space for children that felt more like home than a classroom — a place where nature would guide the rhythm of the day, and where children could learn, play, and grow with freedom and joy.
Originally established as a family daycare, Beyond the Burrow was born from a deep passion for doing things differently. We believed (and still do) that nature is one of the greatest teachers — offering endless opportunities for exploration, resilience, creativity, and connection.
What We Believe
At Beyond the Burrow, we honour the uniqueness of each child. Our approach is guided by respect, curiosity, and a deep belief in the power of play. We offer a rich, nature-infused learning environment that invites children to be bold, imaginative, and true to themselves.
Our skilled educators form strong, genuine relationships with each child — nurturing their social, emotional, and cognitive development through thoughtful observation and meaningful interactions.
We see families as partners in this journey. Open, ongoing communication is a cornerstone of our practice, and we’re committed to building trusting relationships that support children both at home and in our care.
Why We’re Here
Beyond the Burrow is more than a childcare centre — it’s a community. A place where children feel safe, seen, and inspired. A place where mud-stained boots, big questions, and wild imaginations are always welcome.
Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to grow, learn, and discover together.

At Beyond the Burrow, we believe childhood should be full of wonder, exploration, and joy.
Nestled in beautiful Kingston, Tasmania, our nature-inspired early learning service offers Family Daycare that celebrates curiosity, creativity, and connection.
We’re passionate about providing play-rich environments where children feel safe, supported, and free to learn at their own pace. Whether it’s digging in the garden, building with loose parts, or imagining entire worlds beneath the trees, our days are filled with meaningful moments that nurture the whole child.
Beyond the Burrow is a place where children are seen, heard, and celebrated—just as they are.
How We're Different at Beyond the Burrow?
We believe early childhood education should be grounded in warmth, wonder, and respect for nature. We provide a nurturing space where children can grow, explore, and thrive.
We are uniquely positioned to meet the needs of our local community by offering a fresh and thoughtful approach to early childhood education. Here's how we're different:
Nature-Based Learning
We place nature at the heart of everything we do. Our thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces invite children to climb, dig, splash, and discover. Surrounded by native Tasmanian plants and natural textures, children are encouraged to engage all their senses while building resilience, creativity, and a deep respect for the natural world.
We’re proud to use sustainable, high-quality materials and eco-conscious design throughout our learning environments — inspiring children to care for the world around them, now and into the future.
Smaller Ratios, Stronger Relationships
We maintain low educator-to-child ratios to ensure each child receives personalised attention, care, and support. These smaller groups allow for stronger bonds, deeper understanding of each child’s needs, and a more responsive approach to learning and development
Child-Led Curriculum
Children are naturally curious and capable learners. At Beyond the Burrow, we honour that by offering a child-led curriculum, where play is purposeful and driven by the children’s own interests. This builds confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Community Connection
We believe that strong relationships with families and the wider community enrich a child’s experience. From parent engagement and local partnerships to community events and celebrations, we foster a strong sense of belonging and collaboration.
